Notable Changes from the Previous Year

The new Sierra comes with some significant changes. The Duramax diesel engine is now standard for the AT4X trim, while the entry-level engine has been renamed to TurboMax. There are also new wheel designs and exterior colours available, like thunderstorm gray and downpour metallic.

The entry-level TurboMax engine delivers 430 lb-ft of torque and 310 horsepower, along with a towing capacity of 4,309 kg. The 5.3-litre V8 engine has an eight-speed automatic transmission and offers 383 lb-ft of torque, 355 horsepower, and a towing capacity of up to 5,080kg. The Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission and Active Thermal Management for enhanced efficiency. It offers the most towing capacity of the lineup, with 5,942 kg, along with 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque. The flagship engine, the 6.2-litre V8, is the most powerful, with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque capacity. It has dynamic fuel management and active dual exhaust to go along with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The new Sierra 1500 is designed to provide high-level comfort no matter which trim you choose. Available features include 10-way power front seats, which are heated and ventilated. Bucket seats with leather appointments are standard for the SLT, while the Pro has vinyl seats. The flagship model has three options of perforated leather seatings.

You can tell one model from another quickly since each has a specific grille design in gloss black or chrome. The SLE and upper models come with the MultiPro Tailgate, the first with six cargo box management functions.   

Technology and Safety Features

A 13.4-inch touchscreen display is standard in the SLE trim and higher, and it includes Google built-in and the GMC Infotainment System. There are 14 camera views available, providing a surround view. 

Standard safety features are similar across the lineup. They include six airbags, following distance alert, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, and StabiliTrak. The Denali Ultimate has a three-year subscription for OnStar and Connected Services Plan.
